US Congresswoman Ilhan Omar has spoken out about a federal raid on her Washington, D.C., residence, claiming that the early-morning operation was intended to intimidate her and her family. Omar made the comments during an interview with MS NOW host Chris Hayes, her first major interview following the search on October 12, 2026. She described how federal agents arrived at her home at approximately 6 a.m., waking her and her family with loud pounding on the doors.
According to Omar, the search lasted between four and five hours as agents examined different rooms in the residence.
“You don’t show up to somebody’s house that early in the morning unless you’re trying to freak them out,” she said, explaining that the operation left her household shaken.
